Chestnut posts lengths and thicknesses

The lengths of chestnut stakes can vary between 1m and 6m. We supply chestnut tree stakes as small as 4-6 cm in diameter. In addition, we can also supply chestnut trunks of around 30 cm. The diameter of the stakes is always measured on the thick side. Posts with a diameter of 8-10 cm and 10-12 cm are most commonly used in the Netherlands. Chestnut wood is mainly used in natural fencing. You also increasingly see chestnut posts being used in fencing.

Split chestnut posts

Besides round chestnut posts, we also supply sawn and split posts. As these posts are sawn from thicker older tree trunks, the posts contain more heartwood. Because the heartwood is the hardest part of the wood and therefore the most durable part, the sawn chestnut posts last even longer than round posts.

Chestnut posts half round

We can also offer the chestnut posts in half round. In this case, we cut the post lengthwise into two half-round pieces. These half-round chestnut posts are often used for pergolas, for verandas and bicycle racks.

Alternative Robinia poles

Finally, if you do want posts made from an even more durable wood species than chestnut, we also have robinia peeled posts in our range. For more information see our dedicated robinia website: www.robinia-acacia.nl
