Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about Good Chestnut

Chestnut is a durable wood species. It is widely used for fencing off natural areas with trellises and posts.

That depends on many different circumstances. What type of soil are the piles in? Is this soil permanently moist or not? And what thickness of poles are used? The thicker the posts, the more heartwood the post contains and the longer the post will last. Chestnut falls in durability class 2 which generally means that the posts will last 10-20 years.

Both chestnut and robinia wood are durable woods. Robinia wood is even slightly more durable. But robinia posts again have a more whimsical design. Chestnut wood is again somewhat more favourably priced.

We have stocks in various lengths. That starts from 1m to as much as 6m. Besides different lengths, these poles are also available in various diameters.
